Vistors flock to Fendor stand
Returning to our manufacturing base in Gateshead, the Fendor team left the Harrogate Health Estates Exhibition in high spirits, having successfully launched 3 new patented products: the steel sliding window driven by the ‘mini-motor,’ the ‘slipper clutch’ mechanism and the anti-ligature trickle vent panels.
Managing Director Chris Duffy said, ‘I am delighted with the response both to our current range of products and our new innovations. The exhibition was an excellent opportunity to reaffirm our position as market leaders in health care window solutions. Chris went on the explain, ‘At Fendor, we do not have a finite product range as such, each window is developed in response to a particular client need, as every project has slightly different requirements, whether in general healthcare such as a hospital’s or nursing homes or in a specialised high security applications where Fendor has led the field due to technical competence and innovative solutions. The exhibition also allowed architects, specifiers and NHS clients to evaluate the quality and finish on our products up close.
‘One question that repeatedly surprised us was clients and specifiers asking if we made our own products. The exhibition allowed us to reassure that all our products, be it windows, doors or curtain walling are manufacturer by us in our Gateshead factory. Indeed, anyone involved in a project is very welcome to visit us to see their windows in production.
Chris also commented, ‘I want to take this opportunity to thank my team at Fendor, both behind the scenes and those who manned the stand, who were incredibly busy throughout the two days of the show.’

Sales Director Jason Davidson was also delighted with the response from visitors. ‘I think having both our sales and technical staff on the stand allowed visitors to explore a range of issues with us. The product that received the highest praise was our new sliding steel window. Visitors praised its appearance and they were really excited about the concealed mini motor, it’s incredible to think that such a small but robust device has a design life of fifteen years continuous use.
Also very well received was the new slipper clutch mechanism for opening and closing windows. We would love to claim we came up with the idea but the truth is that during one of our forum events at our Head Office, a Head Nurse from a local NHS Trust set us the challenge of creating a handle that would open and close a patients window but could never be forced. The ‘slipper clutch’ is the result of that challenge.’
Fendor pride themselves on their ability to meet the needs of their customers, ‘‘No’ is a word we don’t use at Fendor,’ Chris Duffy concluded.
